First of 20 New Toys R Us Seasonal Stores Opens in Illinois

Do you miss some of the nostalgic brands that were around when you were growing up? If so, there's some good news for you as Toys R Us is making a comeback. They have announced they will be opening 20 seasonal stores and the first one is already open in Illinois.

Newsweek is reporting about this Toys R Us comeback with a new strategy that seems to be seasonal stores instead of permanent new brick and mortar locations. They say that among the 20 planned seasonal stores is one in the shopping center above that just opened on September 20, 2025. This new Toys R Us reportedly includes a section for Babies R Us according to the video below shared by ABC 7 in Chicago.

This Aurora, Illinois store is the one of only 3 announced Midwestern stores with locations also planned for West Des Moines, Iowa and another in Omaha, Nebraska. It will be interesting if this seasonal store approach will allow Toys R Us to be successful moving forward. I do have nostalgic memories of visiting the Toys R Us locations that were in the St. Louis area when I was growing up. Most of the stores would have video game displays that were fun to play around with. Toys R Us was also famous for having the newest tech as soon as it was available. I miss that era and hope this new attempt to be valid again works out for this legendary toy brand.
