Town Needs Boys After a 12 Year Drought of Male Births
A reward is on offer to the next couple to give birth to a son after no boys have been born in a small Polish town for 12 years. The Polish Village of Miejsce Odrzanskie is now under scrutiny from experts to see if there is a deeper rooted issue or if it's just an anomaly. The head of the local mostly female volunteer fire brigade Tomasz Golasz said “It is been going on for several decades. I came to the Village, took a local girl for my wife and we had two daughters. I would like to have a son, but it's probably unrealistic. My neighbor also tried and has two daughters. I don't think women give birth to boys here.”
Mayor Rajmund Frischko has been looking through the village's history to find out if there has been a similar incidence in the past. According to The First News, Mayor Frischko said he would offer an undisclosed reward to the first family to give birth to a boy. He went on to say “I will not reveal exactly how, but I assure you that the gift will be attractive”.
The Village at Miejsce Odrzanskie is in the south of Poland near the border with Czechoslovakia.
