Deja Vu? Another Chance of Dangerous Storms Tuesday in Missouri
The Midwest has barely had a chance to catch its collective breath after supercells dropped over 100 tornadoes over Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Iowa. Now, there's another warning that Tuesday, April 4 could be another day of dangerous storms and this time all of Missouri is in the warning area.
This severe weather outlook just issued by NOAA's Storm Prediction Center bears a striking resemblance to what was predicted earlier this past week. This is what they're saying is possible Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
Let's compare that to what was predicted about 4 days prior to March 31, 2023. Note that this system eventually dropped over 130 confirmed tornadoes.
It would not surprise me if the high risk area which covers Missouri will be given a moderate risk for severe weather by the end of the weekend or Monday at the latest. There's also a chance that conditions will make it less likely severe weather will develop.
I'll say the same thing I said last week. Many mocked me for issuing a warning 5 days ahead of time when all I said was to be aware that severe weather was possible. It eventually unfortunately happened. I would have preferred to be wrong. I share this advanced forecast from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center simply as a recommendation to watch the weather on Tuesday. Be aware that severe weather development is a possibility. If it doesn't happen, that's awesome. But, it's also possible we could have a repeat of what was a tragic day for many in Arkansas and Iowa especially. Tuesday could be Missouri's turn if we get a worst-case scenario for weather conditions.
