Throwing Rolls in Missouri Rated a Top 33 American Thing to Do
I am pleasantly surprised to be able to share this news with you. I've always known that throwed rolls were a great part of Missouri culture. Little did I know that it would be considered one of the top American things you can possible do, but that's what's happened.
Leave it to the internet to come up with a concept like this. Travel Lemming is a national site that just rattled off more than 100 of the "best things you can do in the USA". Sitting there at #33 is a place most of us that have either lived in or traveled through Missouri know about:
Lambert's Café in Sikeston, Missouri - Home of the Throwed Rolls
If you look at the reviews on TripAdvisor, you'll see there's high praise for baked goods being hurled at you. It's worth mentioning that not everyone is a fan as one visitor said "way too hillbilly for me". Different strokes for different folks. Another patron said "Freshly-made, piping hot, yeast rolls are flying through the air! And boy are they delicious!"
I decided to check out the Yelp reviews for Lambert's and one reviewer summed up the experience nicely. Cheryl G said "Worth the drive! Nothing like being hit in the head with flying rolls." Actually, nothing more AMERICAN than getting hit in the head by a throwed roll in Missouri according to the internet.
