This Historic WW2 Ship Landing in Hannibal, Missouri in September
A part of World War 2 history will be landing in Hannibal, Missouri this September. It participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 and is one of the only ships from that era still active today.
The Hannibal Chamber of Commerce shared word that the LST 325 will be arriving in Hannibal on September 15 and remaining through September 18, 2023. It's been referred to as "the ship that won the war" for good reason. It could carry soldiers, fuel, ammunition and supplies.
The Visit Hannibal website says that the ship will be available for touring September 15 through September 18 from 9a until 5p each day. The cost to tour is as follows:
- Adults 18 and older - $15
- Children 6 - 17 - $7.50
- Kids under 5 - No charge
- WW2 and Korean War veterans - Free
The press release says this LST 325 ship is the last operational WW2 landing ship still in operation. Make sure to check the Visit Hannibal website for more details and updates.
