We may be in the middle of winter but that doesn't mean you should barricade yourself inside your home this weekend. For those of us at Townsquare Media, we will be involved in the Y101 Bridal Expo at The Ambiance from noon to 3 pm.  It's free to attend with thousands of dollars in prizes to be given away including a 5 night stay at the Riu Palace-Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, complements of the Travel House of Quincy, Apple Vacations, and Riu Resorts. In addition to this wonderful event, there are plenty of others.

Here's a rundown on some of the activities scheduled for this weekend:

The Mt. Sterling Knights of Columbus Pancake Sausage & Egg Breakfast will be held at the K of C Hall in Mt. Sterling, Illinois on Saturday, January 26th from 6:30 to 11:30 The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 5 to 10 years of age.

The Loraine, Illinois Fire Department will be holding a Pancake & Sausage Breakfast on Saturday, January 26th at the Loraine Fire House. The serving will be from 6:30 to 10:30 on a free-will offering basis. Proceeds will go toward paying off the bank loan for the fire house.

The Hannibal Jaycee’s will be holding their annual Wing - Ding event at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center (Armory) on Saturday, January 26th. The event runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Hull Lion’s Club will be holding their Annual Pancake & Sausage Day on Saturday, January 26 at the Hull Lions Club Building in Hull, Illinois.  The serving will be from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. for this all you can eat event.

The Great River Eagle Days winter gathering will take place at the Oakley Lindsay Center on Saturday, January 26th and Sunday, January 27th. Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the traditional Native American Bald Eagle Blessing taking place at Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

The John Funke Memorial Mart-Heinen 30th Annual Chili Cook-Off will be held on Sunday, January 27th at the Quincy University Health & Fitness Center.  The event is open to the public and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature all you can eat chili and soup tasting. Food tickets are $5 and raffle tickets will also be sold for a chance to win a 50” TV, a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and an All-in-one speaker.  You will also be able to purchase $50 tickets for the 18th Annual Cash Bash drawing featuring $8,500 in prize money including the top prize of $5,000.

St. Peter's School, at 2500 Maine in Quincy, will be kicking off Catholic Schools Week this Sunday with Masses and their 8th annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast that is a little more unique than others. The breakfast will be held in the school gym and starts at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at 12:30 p.m. Chris Cakes, a company out of St. Louis, will provide the pancakes, sausage and entertainment for the event as the pancakes are actually “flipped” onto plates or even across the gym when attendees would like more to eat which adds an element of fun to the event.  The cost of the breakfast is $5 per plate – all you can eat.  There is no charge for children 2 years and under.
