This new video of a nearly 100-year-old bridge leading you from Illinois into the promised land that is Kentucky. Here's how the driver who shared the video described it:

For many decades, this nearly 100 year old Irvin S. Cobb bridge was the only way to cross from Metropolis and Brookport, IL to Paducah, KY. This through truss bridge is scary because it's narrow, has a curve on one end, and the grated road lets you see the water below, makes a weird sound, and makes the car feel like it's being pushed over the yellow stripe. The ten spans make this over a mile long as it carries U.S. Highway 45 over the Ohio River.

Historic Bridges says this span was built in 1929 (probably on a dare). I recall driving on this bridge once and can attest to the weird sound that grating makes with your tires. Drive it and see if you also feel like a piece of cheese being put in a mousetrap.

It is a historic span and has it's appeal, but I'd prefer to see it from afar and never drive over it again.
