Well, this was certainly sudden and unexpected. One of the more popular restaurant chains in America just closed dozens of locations with no warning. No word yet if any of the Missouri locations will be affected, but there is a question of what's next.

I woke up to this headline in many places today that said one of their local eateries had suddenly closed. Boston 25 was one of the first I saw saying that TGI Fridays had closed 6 restaurants in Massachusetts and then I saw a media outlet in Colorado and California and also Texas saying they had local TGI Fridays close with no warning.

Newscenter Maine says that TGI Fridays had closed 36 "underperforming" locations across the country. What's going on?

Nation's Restaurant News said that along with the 36 closures, 8 restaurants had been sold by the company to the former CEO. They said the other locations to be closed had not yet been identified - yet.

According to TGI Friday's website, there are 3 locations in Missouri. There's one in Columbia, another in St. Charles and one in St. Louis.

There is no word yet if these Missouri TGI Fridays locations will be affected, but I will update this story once the other closures are identified. The same can be said of the handful of TGI Fridays in Illinois. As of now, it appears the east and west coasts are seeing most of the sudden shutdowns so far. Let's hope it stays that way.
