You really shouldn't sweat this too much, but if you're a planner, you also might like to know that Target will be closing all of its Illinois stores for 2 days.

It never seems to fail that I put off errands until the last minute and then when I'm finally ready to act, the store I need to get whatever from is closed. Don't be like me. I saw the website Deal News mention that there are two upcoming days when all Illinois Target stores will not be open.

I was able to confirm the report from WAGM also saying that Target will close stores on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I haven't seen a statement from Target's CEO Brian Cornell this year, but last Thanksgiving he explained why they are committed to keeping their stores closed on Thanksgiving after they closed for the first time back in 2020:

"Once I heard from team members how much they appreciated that time with their families, it was an easy decision to make the policy permanent, and our store teams have had that time off ever since."

It's not a foregone conclusion that some of the larger retailers will continue with the "closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas" policy. As retail has had a challenging year, you never know when one of them might revert to previous practices prior to 2020.

As for this year, just know that if you need last minute things and Target is your choice, you'll need to find a different option in Illinois.
