It is not officially baseball season, even if the Major Leagues got underway last week, until the Quincy Park District opens the Batting Cage at Moorman Park.
If you have ever played the game of baseball, and I did for many years, the game never leaves your blood. This is why I hold onto the belief that I can still hit that ball that wins Game 7 of the World Series. I will go to my grave thinking that way.
Since the last out of the Cubs World Series clinching victory over the Indians, I have been had the bug. What bug you ask? The bug to go to the batting cage and smash some baseballs around is attacking me like I would a fastball. The bad news was that the Quincy Park District’s Batting Cage at Upper Moorman Park has been closed. The good news is that it will open for the season today at 3:30 p.m.
It is the Quincy Park District's opening day today for miniature golf, paddle boating, disc golf, bike riding and the batting cage at the batting cage area of Moorman Park. The putters, the boats, the discs, the bikes and the bats will be ready for use beginning this afternoon at 3:30.
I don't care what anybody says, there is nothing like opening night. Be it baseball, football, a play at the theatre or a music performance on stage. The excitement builds until it's showtime!!!! Well, my opening night is today when the Quincy Park District opens the Batting Cage for the season.
I love this time of year and I hate this time of year. Fall brings with it beautiful weather but it also brings an end to using one of my favorite things...The Batting Cage which closed Sunday for the season. That's right, the Batting Cage. I love to frequent "The Cage" if for nothing else to prove to me that I can still hit.
