An important anniversary of my arrival in Quincy took place 39 years ago today. The year was 1978 when I got a call out of the blue from a Gary Schmedding of WTAD Radio and KHQA-TV on a warm May day.
For four years I drove from South Kansas City to Harrisonville, Missouri to go to work. Every day I would pass by the exit ramp to the town of Peculiar, Missouri. Inevitably, there would be a car pulled over by the side of the highway with people taking a picture of the sign that said 'Peculiar Exit'. You have to admit, it is a unique name for a town.
