T-Shirts…Who Would Have Thought?
When I was a kid you wore a t-shirt if you were at baseball practice or working in the yard but hardly ever would you see someone in a t-shirt if they were out shopping in a store or eating at a restaurant. Today, its a whole new ballgame. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that t-shirts would be a billion dollar industry. There are t-shirts for everything these days. If they are plain, people will place a print on it to advertise something, someplace or to propagate a cause.
If you come down to Gus Macker this weekend expect to see thousands of people, playing and watching, wearing them. The t-shirt has become a common form of clothing for millions of people around the world. Probably because they are inexpensive and quite comfortable. They have a place in today society, but they are often worn in the wrong environment.
Recently, I attended a job fair in Quincy representing the radio station. It amazed me how many people came up to me applying for a position or at least asking about the opportunities wearing a t-shirt and jeans or shorts. Definitely not the place to be wearing America’s favorite outfit.
While they may be comfortable to wear, they should never be worn while applying for a job unless, of course, you are applying for a job at the t-shirt factory.
