Everywhere I went this weekend it was the same comment, "when is this rain going to stop?" There is a silver lining in all this in that we didn't have any severe weather accompany the heavy rains we got and the West Nile Virus problem maybe helped by all the rain.

I, for one, have gone through a third round of basement flooding in three weeks which kept me working in my basement most of my holiday. The days work eventually led to a new sump pump being purchased.

The other "good" thing is that the West Nile mosquito problem is way down this year in the State of Illinois. The reason being that kind of mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus breeds in dry weather with stagnant water areas of which we have had none this year. That doesn't mean that we won't have a mosquito problem in the weeks ahead once things start to dry out.

In case you were wondering there were three cases of West Nile Virus reported in Adams County last year and none in Marion County.
