Everyone seems to have an opinion of how safe or not St. Louis, Missouri is, but it's hard to argue with data. Is it really possible that the St. Louis Police Department just reported the lowest homicide total in the city since 2013?

I saw this interesting report that was just shared on the St. Louis, Missouri sub-Reddit.

St. Louis began to see homicide numbers skyrocket after 2013. After 120 lives were taken that year, numbers would jump into the 150's, 180's with the highest total being 263 in 2020. To see such a dramatic drop shows that something positive is happening in the big city these days. The post on Reddit also says that in a few days complete numbers for 2024 will be released showing a big drop in burglaries, also. If accurate, that's a huge win for St. Louis.

It will be interesting to see if the national narrative that St. Louis is a murder capital will begin to change once the numbers prove it's no longer true. Kudos to authorities in St. Louis for this big turnaround. Let's hope the city continues to trend in this safer direction.
