If the computer model runs end up being accurate, Missouri and Illinois could see snow at the worst possible time for travel over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

One of my favorite internet weather experts is Meteorologist Travis Roberts on YouTube. He is a former TV chief meteorologist and tends to be very cautious when it comes to forecasting weather. When he mentions a possible winter system impacting Missouri and Illinois, I pay attention because he's not one of the more sensational personalities that's always tossing out worst case scenarios.

Travis just shared a computer model run that shows interesting weather developing on Wednesday, November 27, the day before Thanksgiving when many will be hitting the road. This shows snow in decent amounts across the northeastern swath of Illinois.

When it comes to Thanksgiving morning, Missouri and Illinois both could see some winter precipitation which might be ice and/or snow.

Parts of Missouri and Illinois are right on the freezing line where it could be rain, snow or ice or a mixture of all of the above. Moving on to Thanksgiving evening and it looks even more iffy.

The potential wintry weather doesn't stop on Thanksgiving, but also the morning of Black Friday, November 29, too.

Very important note: Do NOT make any important decisions about your Thanksgiving plans based on a weather computer model. I just share this because you need to be mentally prepared IF this becomes an official forecast from the National Weather Service. You need to know that this kind of weather is at least possible if you have Thanksgiving travel plans.

I would also highly recommend watching Travis Robert's explanation of all that I've shared above as he does a good job of giving probabilities and context to what the computer models are showing.
