It was one of the biggest architectural dreams in Missouri that was never realized. The Indian Ridge Mansions are gone now, but there are still many that don't understand exactly how they came about and why there were trashed. The history is interesting and there are still big questions and some potential big news about what's to come.

Hard to believe it's been over 3 years ago when we first looked at the Indian Ridge Mansions. It was a real estate development that began way back in 2006 and involved a reported $1.6 billion dollars to complete. When the housing and stock market tanked in 2008, progress on these mansions ground to a halt. The Environmental Protection Agency reported that several developers went to prison over violations.

These mansions became abandoned and that's when they truly started gaining fame as one of Missouri's most notorious locations on TikTok. There were hundreds of videos made about the Indian Ridge Mansions. This one now has over 2.3 million views.

The area became so trampled by urban explorers that law enforcement in the area issued pleas for everyone to stay away. It wasn't until October of 2022 when Silver Dollar City purchased the property and promptly sent demolition crews to Indian Ridge to ride the world of the mansions. Almost overnight, they were all gone.

There's a new development in the Indian Ridge Mansion saga. Branson Tri-Lake News is reporting that Silver Dollar City is teasing a "huge new project". They call it "one of the biggest investments in the company's history". Could Silver Dollar City be about to turn what used to be Indian Ridge Mansions into a new theme park area?

There's an event planned in October 2024 to make the announcement. I'll update this article once Silver Dollar City unveils their exciting new plans.
