Shocker – Surprise Solar Storm Causes Northern Lights in Missouri
Well, this was completely unexpected. Residents of northern Missouri were treated to a pleasant surprise when a shocking solar storm caused the Northern Lights to dance in the skies over Missouri.
Dan Bush of the Missouri Skies YouTube channel captured the moment when a G2 Solar Storm brought the Aurora Borealis further south than it's been most of 2023 so far. This video was recorded in Albany, Missouri by Dan.
The Earth/Sky website says that a surprise coronal mass ejection caused the colorful sky event over Missouri and several parts of America that don't see the Northern Lights very often.
Who knows when this will happen again? The NOAA Aurora Forecast site is updated almost constantly so you can check in to see when the Missouri skies get super-colorful again. Never know when the sun will surprise us.
