Mayor Kyle Moore proclaimed the emergency Friday to allocate resources and manpower to set up a rapid response COVID testing site.
The council learned that over a thousand people were tested at the site at the former Shopko parking lot Monday, with a goal of testing up to 30,000 people over the next three weeks.
More mobile testing are expected to be set up in the area in the coming days.
The council also agreed to allocate a portion of city tax revenue from marijuana sales to the city’s fix or flatten program.
