Popular Snack Sold in Missouri & Illinois Under Emergency Recall
If you enjoy your snacks and live in Missouri or Illinois, there's a good chance that you've had this one. It's very popular and has been widely available in Missouri and Illinois grocery stores, but is now under an urgent recall from the federal government.
The Food and Drug Administration has just shared this bulletin about a snack sold through nearly all of the Missouri and Illinois Kroger and Meijer stores. It's Naturipe Value Added Fresh Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes snack boxes that look like this.
The problem is these normally innocent snacks have wheat and egg in them, but were mislabeled which would mean someone with a milk or egg allergy could experience a severe allergic reaction.
The good news is the FDA bulletin says no one has been sickened yet, so they're hoping they've caught this error in time to protect anyone from suffering severe side effects. There were 694 cases of these snacks with a best by date of February 25, 2025 sent to "Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Wisconsin" stores.
If you find you have this snack and have a milk or egg allergy, you are advised to not eat them and return them to the store you got them from.
