Today, the Exchange Club of Quincy will add the 68th entry into the Book of Golden Deeds in Pat & Kevin Steinkamp. Ever since the Exchange Club of Huntington, Indiana sponsored the first award in 1919, thousands of unsung heroes and heroines have been recognized.

Volunteer efforts are very important to our society and should not go unnoticed. The National Exchange Club's longest running project, the Book of Golden Deeds Award, recognizes dedicated volunteers who give endless hours of their time and talents toward making their communities better places to live.

Pat and Kevin Steinkamp have been one of the driving forces behind Special Olympics in this area for the last two decades. The Steinkamps got involved through their daughter, who is an athlete with special needs. They jumped in to fill a void and never left. Pat manages the paperwork for eight Special Olympics sports and picks up a half-dozen or so athletes for practice. Kevin has been a Special Olympics referee for 35 years.

For all of their many years of work and devotion, the Exchange Club of Quincy will proudly add their names to the 2018 Book of Golden Deeds at a noon banquet at the Quincy Elks Lodge.
