Many pizza customers in Hannibal, Missouri got an unwelcome shock over the weekend as the lone Papa John's location suddenly closed with no notice whatsoever.

I was first alerted that something was going on with Papa John's in Hannibal when a post on the Things Happening in Hannibal, Missouri Facebook page said "Hannibal Papa John's is officially permanently closed." Commenters on the post said there was a sign on the door thanking the Hannibal community for their support and encouraging customers to visit their Quincy, Illinois location. The official Papa John's site shows this for the Hannibal, Missouri store now.

Why did Papa John's in Hannibal close?

Your guess is as good as mine as there's no response from the local Papa John's staff which is understandable considering the fact that they're probably as surprised as the rest of us. While I understand that the Quincy Papa John's is the closest location to Hannibal now that the local store is closed, it's not a surprise to anyone who really lives in this area that ordering pizza in Quincy when you live in Hannibal isn't a realistic or popular option. Let's hope the local staff who may be jobless now land on their feet in a better situation.
