There is still a chance of severe storms developing over parts of Missouri on Thursday, but now the National Weather Service in St. Louis is warning about a better chance on Friday when strong tornadoes and large hail could impact the state.

According to the newest National Weather Service St. Louis weather story, you need to be especially weather-aware on Friday, May 16, 2025. They are now saying while there's only a 30% chance of severe storm development today (Thursday), there is now a 70% chance that Friday will see explosive storm development.

The exact words from the National Weather Service meteorologists say "Some of the storms will be capable of strong wind gusts, very large hail and tornadoes. A tornado or two may be strong." That development of a bigger storm threat for Friday has been picked up by some online meteorologists, too.
