Storms and Flooding Threaten Northern Missouri

This is another weekend when you really need to be weather-aware especially if you live in Missouri as there are threats of storms that are expected to pack damaging winds and flooding is a definite possibility.

I just saw this bulletin from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri. they have a special weather statement that warns of the potential for severe weather with northern Missouri being the most at risk starting later in the day Saturday, August 9, 2025. Here's the map they shared showing the Missouri counties most at risk.

They say that northern Missouri can expect "isolated 60 mph wind gusts and heavy rain due to strong, possibly repeating thunderstorms." Some parts of northern Missouri will likely see localized flooding as there are some places who may receive a dump of several inches of rain over the weekend over a relatively short period of time. Here's the expected timing of storms for different cities and towns in Missouri.

I wish I had a nickel for every time this year that I've said to make sure you are weather and storm aware in Missouri and have multiple ways to receive warnings when/if they're issued. That's the story for yet another weekend.
