There's a filing with the state of Missouri that makes it official. A northeast Missouri factory has started laying off workers and apparently there are more to come throughout 2025.

The state of Missouri's Job Site has a brand new WARN notice that was just made a part of the public record as of November 25, 2024. It says that Hollister in Kirksville, Missouri has already laid off 3, but many more are to come. The exact wording says "Further layoffs to come".

That new WARN notice led me to find out what's going on in Kirksville and KTVO is reporting that Hollister has confirmed that they plan to close the Kirksville facility and move the work being done there to other Hollister plants. That process is expected to continue throughout the next year before the manufacturing facility is closed for good apparently.

This new announcement from Hollister in Kirksville brings the total number of layoffs over just the past few months in Missouri to over 5,200.

I keep hoping that we'll see a turnaround and instead of layoffs, we'll begin to have new business and hiring to share the news of. Sadly, that has not happened yet.
