There is reason for rejoicing if you love Buc-ee's and live and/or travel through the Kansas City, Missouri area. The brand has received final approval to build the long-rumored location along the western border of Missouri.

You might recall that I got quite a bit of heat when I first shared the news a few months ago about how Buc-ee's was scoping out land for a new location in Kansas City, Missouri. As I mentioned in that article (and several very unhappy Kansas residents were kind enough to message me about), the exact location is technically on the Kansas side of Kansas City.

The good news is that KMBC in Kansas City is reporting now that the Unified Government of Wyandotte County's Board of Commissioners gave the final thumbs up late Thursday night, November 7.

This is the field that was being looked at by Buc-ee's and I believe this is where the new store will be. It's the an area where 110th Street meets Interstate 70 in the Kansas City area not far from Kansas Speedway.

This will be the 2nd Missouri location of Buc-ee's following last year's debut in the Springfield area.

I suppose I could make my Kansas friends mad again and recommend that Missouri annex the part of Kansas City, Kansas where the new Buc-ee's will be, but I'll leave well enough alone and just be happy that the many Buc-ee's fans will soon have another Missouri place to stop.

By the way, construction is expected to begin as early as next May 2025 with the expectation that it will bring 200 jobs to the area.
