Once again there is good news and there is some bad news. The bad news is that there's one Missouri park that is filled with venomous snakes. The good news is it remains a popular destination although that could be bad news considering.

There's a brand new ranking just shared by World Atlas that has declared Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park the most snake-infested park in Missouri. Here's a big reason why from a video shared by Wayward Wonderer on YouTube.

When you see this many rocks near water, you have a chance of having a snake nearby. There are ample den options for snakes in the nearby woods and the slithering serpents love sunning themselves on those rocks. I've lost count of how many people I've heard from that spotted Copperheads on or near the trails. There are also plenty of rattlesnakes that call this part of Missouri home. The fact that Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park is so popular makes the likelihood of humans meeting snakes quite high.

I've heard some folks complain that this is the home territory of snakes and it's the humans that have invaded it. That's not wrong, but reality is that Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park is located in arguably the prettiest part of Missouri. It's just good to be reminded to be careful where you walk and reach when you visit there. A dangerous snake feeling threatened with venomous fangs is not what you want to be on the wrong end of.
