Missouri’s Most Scenic Drive is 23 Miles of Jaw-Dropping Beauty
There is one thing that Missouri does not lack and that's places to drive and soak in the sights. Among thousands of options, there's one scenic drive in Missouri that stands above them all and it's 23 miles of jaw-dropping beauty.
Love Exploring just named the most scenic drive in each state and their choice for Missouri is an interesting one. I'll give them credit for choosing a drive that most don't know about that is truly off-the-beaten-path.
The Glade Top Trail is Missouri's only national park scenic byway that cuts through Mark Twain National Forest. If you look at a map of this Missouri route, you'll see it has seven overlook pull-outs. It's located 60 miles southeast of Springfield.
They recommend that you try this drive at sunrise for unforgettable views, but I can't think of a bad time of day to drive through this part of Missouri. The US Forest Service warns that there are lots of loose rocks on some steep ridges, so if you stop for a view, be careful where you step.
Love Exploring made a great decision picking this as the premium scenic drive in Missouri. I've lived in the state most of my life and still haven't managed to take my family there. That will hopefully change soon as they really need to experience one of the prettiest places in Missouri.
