World’s Best Burger Comes from Tiny Illinois Town Population 2?
I've heard it said that great things sometimes come in small packages. That old saying may be proven true by a tiny town in Illinois that consists of only two people that makes the world's best burger according to many.
If you adventure through the small towns of southeastern Illinois, you'll eventually come across tiny little Moonshine. I can't recall what site brought this wonderful part of Illinois to mind on my social media feed, but it may have been Only In Your State. To get to Moonshine, you have to locate East 300th Road which is where you'll find a special store. It's so remote, even the Google car hasn't taken any street view pictures there.
This is the Moonshine Store and there are some things you should know. First, the grill shuts off at 12:30p sharp, so if you're too late, you're too late. Second, they make burgers that legions of people on TripAdvisor rave about - arguably the best in the world according to many.
You'll hear phrases uttered about this Illinois place like "lots of vintage character" and "best burger".
The population 2 part consists of Jackie and Lisa Tuttle who own the Moonshine Store. The official website says the building started out as a general store and post office. Now, it's a country diner that offers plenty of different types of burgers, but the double and triples are the stars.
Leave it to a tiny Illinois town of only 2 to wow the world with burgers that are worth the journey it takes to find them.
