In what seems like an almost unending round of layoffs that have happened during the first 3 months of 2025, now there is an official state report that says 69 workers were just let go after an Illinois food plant closed.

There's a new WARN notice on the Illinois Work Net website that shows the state was just alerted that a company was letting 69 workers go after a food plant was being closed. It says that Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation located at 305 E Washington Street in Momence, Illinois had notified the state of Illinois it was laying off workers and the reason stated was plant closure.

According to the company's official website, they are a private label food manufacturing group that has 13 locations and 3,000 workers. This is the Illinois location where the closure was announced.

This latest layoff brings the total number of workers in Illinois let go during the past 30 days to more than 1,500 and 4,500 for the past 90 days. You can check out the Illinois Work Net site to see the other companies that have cut back already in 2025.
