Missouri’s 10 Most Underrated Places From a Lifelong Missourian

Everyone has their own opinion about what makes a place underrated. I certainly have my own and that's what compelled me to share what I firmly believe are Missouri's 10 most underrated towns and cities.

This is not based off anyone else's opinion. It is mine all mine and no one can change my mind (I don't think). I was born and raised in Missouri and have lived here most of my adult life. Thanks to my parents, I have visited every part of the state and have many places that will always be beloved by me.

What makes a Missouri place underrated?

I believe it's a place that doesn't get the attention it deserves or it gets the type of bad attention it doesn't deserve which definitely describes that place that begins my top 10 most underrated places list.

I could be convinced that some of these Missouri places deserve to be rated higher or lower, but I think all of them merit being labeled underrated and there are many more that I didn't have room to list. Some of my favorite Missouri trips have been in the Mark Twain National Forest and Lake of the Ozark parts of the state which is why many of the towns I mentioned are there. I could also have added places like Chillicothe to this list. If I had given it bonus points for inventing sliced bread (which it did), it would have been in the top 10.

Missouri has plenty of hidden gems if you look hard enough to find and experience them.
