If you're a Missourian who's been to Texas recently, you need to know about a highly-contagious outbreak that has just turned deadly. It's one of the biggest outbreaks in decades.

I have seen multiple reports from The Daily Mail and also the AP about a monstrous measles outbreak that has overwhelmed Texas. There are, as of this writing, 124 measles cases in Texas.

How are measles in Texas a problem for Missouri?

The good news is they currently aren't (that we know of), but I know many who regularly travel between Missouri and Texas and the measles are a highly contagious disease.

There are Amtrak trains that travel between Missouri and Texas. Planes fly from Kansas City and St. Louis to Dallas/Fort Worth every day. That doesn't even include the many truck drivers who haul over-the-road between Missouri and the Lone Star state regularly. Many also vacation in southern Texas during the cold weather months.

One child has already lost their life to measles in Texas. This is one of the most serious outbreaks in years. Without enough caution being taken, a serious Texas problem could soon become a serious Missouri health issue.
