If you ask anyone at this ritzy Missouri hotel now, I bet they'd deny it, but while it's definitely one of the bucket list destinations in the state, it gained fame decades ago for professional wrestling.

The website Love Exploring just named the ultimate bucket list hotel destinations in each state and their choice for Missouri is a good one, but not for the reasons they think.

What is the ultimate bucket list hotel for Missouri?

They chose The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri. Is it fancy? Absolutely. Is it worth of a bucket list recommendation? I think so.

But, it's not the fine accommodations and spiffy rooms I will always associate with this St. Louis hotel. No, for me it's the old TV show Wrestling at the Chase. It aired from 1959 through 1983 and was almost always on in our house on Saturday mornings.

I vividly remember Harley Race and Andre the Giant appearing on the show many times, plus I think WWF even did some things in the Chase Hotel in St. Louis. I have never been a wrestling fan in my adult life, but I was as a kid and it was because of the Chase Hotel in St. Louis and the TV show that was filmed inside of it for the better part of 2 1/2 decades.
