Iowa Busts Overweight Missouri Truck that Violated Federal Order
There are minor traffic violations and there are those that can potentially get you into a load of trouble. This is that second one as a Missouri truck was busted in Iowa for being extremely overweight, but it was other violations that got the driver and company into way more trouble.
The Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit on Facebook shared this status update today showing pictures of a truck they pulled over. While they don't disclose the name of the driver or the company he drives for, you can see Missouri plates on the truck if you look close enough.
In case you can't see their update on your device, here are their exact words for what they found when they pulled him over:
"This vehicle was recently stopped, as it was suspected of being overweight. During the stop it was discovered, beyond the truck being extremely overweight, that the driver had been placed out of service two previous times for various violations to include not having the proper license. In addition, it was also determined that the company as a whole was under a federal out of service order. The driver was placed under arrest on multiple charges and transported to jail."
I expect that we'll learn the driver's name and the company that allegedly violated the federal out-of-service order once the charges are officially on the books. As of now, it's a teachable moment for drivers and companies that think they can dodge the long arm of the law.
