As we continue to explore what artificial intelligence can and can't do, I've noticed something interesting. Yes, the robots share facts (more or less), but they can also have an opinion which is what happened when AI advised me to stay away from several Missouri towns.

Out of curiosity, I asked ChatGPT what it thinks are the best and worst places in Missouri. It didn't have much to say about the best Missouri places, but it did offer me tons of advice about the places in Missouri to avoid. Here they are in the order that the robots said.

The actual city of St. Louis

There's a big difference between the St. Louis area (good) and the metro area that is the city of St. Louis (bad). Crime and population decline were the main robot concerns.

Kennett, Missouri

AI says that going to Kennett is a concern due to its high poverty rate, shrinking population and the fact that it lost its hospital recently. The fact that Kennett was Sheryl Crow's hometown did not impress the robots.

Wellston, Missouri

Economic distress, disintegrating infrastructure and sky-high crime rates are really all you can say about why Wellston is to be avoided if possible.

Hayti, Missouri

If low life expectancy is appealing, Hayti is your town. The soaring poverty levels and low economic development don't help either. I'll add my own concern about Hayti and that's the fact that it will be one of the first Missouri towns to be devastated in the New Madrid Fault gets angry someday.
