Got a Text About Missouri Toll You Owe? Delete It Immediately
You would be surprised how many in Missouri have fallen for this. It's a text claiming that you owe a toll and there's a good reason you should delete it immediately.
I live in Missouri and I got this text yesterday. It claims that I owe a past due amount on a toll in the state and the amount is rising.
So many have gotten this text, the Missouri Department of Transportation had to issue a statement on their social media pages about it.
It should be obvious that this is a scam since Missouri does not currently have any toll roads. It's also a best practice to never tap a link in a text unless it's coming from a known source and even then you should avoid clicking links and contact that source through other means to verify it's true.
If you get this text, get it off of your device as soon as possible. If you happen to tap the link and submit any personal information, you're in danger of losing a lot of money and/or identity theft. This is an insidious scam and I'd love 5 minutes alone with the perpetrators.
