It's that tricky time of year when Missouri is still potentially in the path of winter storms, but now the state needs to be aware of severe thunderstorm development, too. That's the case now as it appears the state could be just days away from severe storms.

This is not the opinion of just one internet weather personality, but the beginnings of corroboration in agreement on potential severe weather development. Let's begin with something I saw shared today by Ryan Hall. He noticed that the CAPE above southern Missouri is expected to be high which could be conducive to storm development. This is how that's expected to look by Tuesday afternoon on March 4, 2025.

Missouri is now expected to see a low pressure system plant itself practically right in the middle of the state by Tuesday afternoon.

Computer models are now consistently showing precipitation will be a part of this system too along with high winds.

Now, let's get to the corroboration. KY3 in Springfield, Missouri has now picked up on the possibility that severe storm development currently forecast for the south could push into Missouri next Tuesday.

Travis Roberts also has noted the potential for dangerous storms.

This is the NOAA Climate Prediction Center severe storms area as of this writing which already sits just south of the Missouri bootheel.

There's going to be a cold component to the back side of the storm which will collide with the warm air that gets pulled up from the south. It would be wise to watch this development as it's almost certain that at least southern Missouri will see some storms and it could spread further north once everything starts to happen early next Tuesday.
