I don't know about you, but I'm not a senior citizen - yet. However, I am encouraged that when it's time to live out my golden years, I won't have to travel far to live my best life as a Missouri city was just named the 4th best place in America for seniors starting their lives over.

The website Finance Buzz has just taken a look at cities across America to decide which locations are the best for seniors. If you look at the map they created as a result, you'll see a big number 4 over Missouri.

That's because they chose St. Louis, Missouri as the 4th best city in America for seniors who want a fresh start in life. Why is St. Louis such a great place for the Golden Girls (and guys)? Finance Buzz said they prioritized "affordability, housing, and livability". They said that St. Louis is "a city overflowing with socialization opportunities, boasting some of the highest per capita rates of bars, gyms, community centers, and sports and social clubs of any city in the country". Only Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Cleveland scored higher for seniors than St. Louis. They're not wrong.

St. Louis also has many suburbs where the cost of living would be considered more affordable than other places for those on a fixed income. The crime rate is also wildly exaggerated by national media as St. Louis has trouble areas like any metro would, but the region is full of nice places to make a home. The cost of living in Missouri and the Midwest as a whole tends to fluctuate less than the coastal cities in America. That's why the Gateway City is ideal for those who want to live out their golden years.
