1 in 3 in Missouri Think They Could ‘Go Pro’ and Really Make It
Have you ever daydreamed about being asked to step out of the stands and take the field as a last-minute substitution for the St. Louis Cardinals? If so, you're not alone as 1 in 3 in Missouri apparently believe they could 'go pro' and make it in a professional sports environment.
Without boring you with my life story, I was a decent baseball and tennis player during my high school days and came within a few hours of going to a tryout for a major league team. I also thought I could train and compete in the US Open tennis tournament. Was I delusional? Oh, very much so, but I'm not alone as a new study shows many in Missouri have a belief that they could make it if they were to 'go pro'. Missouri is a top 10 state for going pro confidence. NICE.
This fun new survey from Solitaire Bliss shows Missourians do not lack confidence about their potential for greatness. Among the achievements Missouri people think is within their reach include:
- Driving a lap in a race without crashing
- Catching a pass in the NFL
- Getting a hit in Major League Baseball
- Landing a punch in a boxing match
- Making a basket in the NBA
I've been in a batting cage with a real 80+ mph baseball out of a machine and it's much harder than you think even at that speed. Consider now that major league baseball pitchers regularly clock in at 95+ mph and you aren't getting a hit. Sorry to burst your bubble.
