Missouri Rental Company Now Says No Mass Layoffs in March
More bad news on the employment front as there's a new notice submitted to the state of Missouri alerting them that there will be a mass layoff of workers from a rental place starting in March.
UPDATE: The state of Missouri now says the HERC Rentals has retracted their WARN notice. I just received this email from the state.
ORIGINAL STORY: I was alerted by the Missouri Jobs site that an equipment rental place in St. Louis had submitted a WARN notice of imminent job loss. It was submitted by HERC Rentals located at 3030 Market Street in St. Louis, Missouri. It says that the layoff of 30 workers would begin on or around March 11, 2026. The reason given was "closure, layoff, furlough (temporary layoff)" so it's entirely possible that some of these layoffs will be temporary based on the document.
What's interesting is I don't see this WARN notice on the Missouri Jobs website as of the date of this writing, but it's still early in 2026 and there's a good chance the database hasn't been updated there yet. The WARN notice from HERC Rentals does say that other locations will be affected so we'll see if any other Missouri places are impacted by this layoff decision, too.
This is one of the first mass layoffs of 2026 that I've seen so far. Let's hope that all of the affected workers land on their feet in an even better situation.
