99 Victims, Millions Stolen—Missouri Pair Hit With 28+ Years
Two perpetrators of a terrible scheme that robbed 99 victims in Missouri of millions have been sentenced to a combined 28+ years in prison according to the FBI in St. Louis.
The St. Louis, Missouri office of the FBI shared this bulletin on their Facebook page of 2 schemers who together were sentenced to 28+ years behind bars for a crime they carried out on 99 victims in Missouri robbing them of $5.7 million dollars.
Along with the prison sentence, James “Jim” Johnson, 78, and Darrell Niswonger, 69, were also ordered to pay the victims back their money. In some cases, victims were robbed of the life savings they were counting on to take care of themselves during their retirement years. One victim was robbed of $25,000 that her grandmother left her to help purchase a home.
“Jim Johnson and Darrell Niswonger exploited and defrauded members of their community for personal gain. The irreparable damage they caused has finally ended and justice has prevailed,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Christopher Flowers of the FBI St. Louis Division. “Though the devastating financial impact of their actions will not be forgotten, it is our hope that today’s sentencing brings some closure to their many victims.”
