I don't know about you, but I have a hard time imagining exactly how much money one billion dollars is, but that's the amount that just changed hands in a major deal involving more than one hundred JCPenney stores including two locations in Missouri.

I just came across this story shared by Yahoo Finance which announced a huge sale involving 119 JCPenney stores. They say that an equity firm from Boston is purchasing all of these JCPenney locations for a cool $947 million dollars. The retail portfolio promoting the sale reveals 2 Missouri JCPenney stores are included.

What does the sale of these 2 Missouri JCPenney stores mean for their business?

The report from Yahoo Finance shows that both stores are still operational and there is no word if this sale will affect their status moving forward. We know that a bankruptcy proceeding 5 years ago resulted in the closure of many JCPenney stores, but there's no indication that this will be the fate of these newly-purchased Missouri locations. Hopefully this equity firm which now owns them will have a successful business plan moving forward.
