Both Missouri and Illinois have been enjoying a very mild period with pleasant temperatures. That's about to change big time according to what computer models are showing for the start of June with a summer blast of intense heat incoming.

Since I'm a dad who pays the electric bills (turn off those lights, please), I have been borderline delirious about how cool temperatures have been over the past couple of weeks in Missouri and Illinois. That's why my smile turned upside down when I saw meteorologist Travis Roberts pick up on what looks to be a blistering hot start to June. Here are the temperatures that are now showing up on computer models starting Sunday, June 1.

Fast forward to Tuesday, June 3, 2025 and you see it's even hotter. But wait, there's more.

By the time Wednesday, June 4, 2025 gets here, most of Missouri and Illinois will be upward of 90 degrees or more.

There's also some good news along with the bad news for air conditioner owners

It appears that this blast of heat that will feel like our face is in a furnace for the first 5 or 6 days of June will be short-lived maybe. Some computer models are showing another few days of relief after the 90+ degree days are done with us. In the meantime, brace yourself for a preview of summer in both Missouri and Illinois.
