Missouri does not lack legends, but it does lack evidence about some of the stories told about them. There's a very recent book that is trying to change that in regards to legends of a tribe of giants in southern Missouri. The author has some compelling evidence now to go along with those stories.

Thanks to author Nicholas Daigle who was kind enough to share his book with me entitled "Genesis 6 and the Ozarks: A Compilation Book on a Christian’s Perspective Of Proof That the Biblical Giants Were Right in Our Backyards". It is a very deep dive into the legend that many have told for years about a tribe of giants in the Ozarks and specifically in Greene County. His own investigations led him to an area where the Sac River Mountain Bike Park exists just north of Springfield, Missouri. He found a rectangular mound, the rock wall, and the rock cairn in that park that seem to prove that a prehistoric people existed in this part of Missouri.

He also found a mound-like structure in the Sac Cemetery in Fulbright Springs Park using a LiDAR scan. He added in his book the following interesting history:

"I did discover an old hand-drawn map of Greene County that showed old Indian trails, camp sites, mound locations, and burial sites. When I compared where this rectangular-shaped mound is located on the old maps, the map confirmed that this mound was a known Indian burial site"

This is just a small part of what Nicholas learned as he was researching the reports of giants in that part of Missouri including local school and newspaper articles in the Springfield, Missouri area in the early 1930's. If the legend of giants in Missouri is something that interests you, I'd highly recommend picking up Nicholas Daigle's book on Amazon. He may very well have discovered evidence that proves these Missouri legends aren't just legends, but real history in our state.
