Why Missourians Are Adding This Bin to Their Fridge
I really wish I had thought of this because it's not hard and it's saving many big bunches of money. There's a new hack that many of my Missouri friends have adopted that involves adding a new bin to their fridge and it's simple genius.
I'm not sure exactly what social media platform this first became popular on, but I'll take a stab in the dark and say that the article that Go Banking Rates has shared sums up what it's all about. Many in Missouri are setting aside one fridge bin for a special purpose.
What is this Missouri fridge hack and how do I do it?
The concept is simple. You make the most visible bin in your fridge the "Eat Me First" bin. Produce, eggs, meats, yogurt...anything that expires in 3 to 5 days goes in there. The reason is obvious. Most of us forget about foods that get shuffled to the back and/or behind other food and then they expire and are no use. When you're considering snacks, check the eat me first bin before anything else to make sure you don't have an option that is about to expire.
This is a simple hack that reduces waste, saves money and keeps your refrigerator from becoming a horrifying biology experiment. Ever wonder what happens to ketchup after it's left in the back of a fridge for 3 years? Don't ask me how I know.
