Missouri Warned About Possible Flash Flooding Tonight
A vast majority of Missouri is now under the threat of possible flash flooding later today and overnight as heavy rainfall is expected from incoming storms.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis has already warned that damaging winds could be a part of storms that are expected to begin developing soon over Missouri. Now, they've added a Flash Flood Watch to those storm details saying that the areas in green on their map could see up to 2 inches of rainfall per hour later Wednesday.
It appears that the flash flooding events in these areas of Missouri are expected to be isolated events and not widespread which is good news. However, the forecasters in St. Louis seem to think the worst flooding could happen during the overnight hours when many are asleep.
The National Weather Service says that any flash flooding that happens in Missouri tonight is not expected to be life-threatening and standing water across roads should not exceed 3 feet. That's still enough to stall a vehicle and cause a bigger problem, though. If you do plan to travel across the parts of Missouri where flash flooding is possible tonight, do take extra caution and be prepared to find a different route if flood waters become a factor.
