New FBI Crime Data Says Most Dangerous City in US is in Missouri
I'm highly suspicious of this, but there's a brand new report that says the FBI has declared a Missouri place the most dangerous city in America. I have so many questions.
First of all, check out the report yourself as shared by The Express. They named the 10 most dangerous American cities based on FBI crime data, but they also shared some good news. Overall, violent crime is down in America allegedly. The bad news? Missouri is once again #1 in America when it comes to violent crime.
Congratulations, St. Louis. You once again get the murder capital crown.
Now to my questions. Whenever I see something like this, I question when the data was collected. According to the article, they quote crime data from 2019? Am I right? If so, that's old news and they should get with the program.
Less than 2 weeks ago, US News and World Report had St. Louis at #2 most dangerous. The crime lords can't make up their minds.
Not content to rely on a third-party website to tell me Missouri things, I went straight to the latest crime data explorer from the FBI. Like many government things, it's a mess to try and navigate through. Here's the 10 year trend for Missouri crime I did find.
To me, that looks like violent offenses in Missouri are generally trending down, but I'm no criminal scientist.
Here's the bottom line. Prepare to hear St. Louis dubbed the Murder Capital again as I doubt most will go to the trouble that I did to dig into real FBI crime data. Does the big city deserve that bad recognition again? I'll let you be the judge. Even one life taken is one too many.
