Brush Fire Still Burning in Missouri’s Mark Twain National Forest
The dry conditions that Missouri has been enduring thanks to the ongoing drought are not helping the Mark Twain National Forest area where a brush fire is still burning.
The fire burning in the Mark Twain National Forest is known as the Sugar Fire and firefighters from several different areas continue to battle it. Here's an update shared by the Mark Twain National Forest on Facebook earlier today.
The newest update from the Mark Twain National Forest on Facebook just one hour ago at the time of this writing says progress is being made, but the brush fire is still not completely contained. It consists of around 1500 acres at the moment. It says "Local volunteer fire departments, including those from Goodhope Fire Dept and Squires Volunteer Fire Department have set up structure protection around homes near the fire. No structures have been lost."
The Missouri Drought Monitor shows the part of the state where the brush fire is burning is one of the driest in Missouri right now.
As this is a developing story, it will be updated once this brush fire is contained and confirmed by the local fire departments and the USDA.
