Deadly Risk Found in Missouri’s Most Popular Ice Cream
It is without a doubt one of the most popular ice cream brands available in Missouri, but it's now under an urgent recall after officials learned that there was a critical packaging error that could result in a life-threatening condition for many.
Do you have this ice cream in your freezer now? It's one of the most popular brands in Missouri
The Food and Drug Administration just released a bulletin alerting the public about an unexpected danger with Blue Bell Ice Cream. Notice the discrepancy on the top of the package compared to what's on the outside label. This Blue Bell Ice Cream has a Moo-llennium Crunch lid, but it's packaged in a chocolate chip cookie dough carton. That means that what some people think is chocolate chip cookie dough flavor also has unexpected almonds, walnuts, and pecans. The feds warn that if you have an allergy to almonds, walnuts or pecans and you eat this ice cream you "run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products".
The FDA is warning that this Blue Bell Ice Cream was widely-available in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida Panhandle, Northwest Georgia, Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Southwest Virginia.
Kudos to a Blue Bell employee who caught this error and alerted the company which led to this voluntary recall. As of this date, there have been no reported sicknesses or hospitalizations as a result of this ice cream packaging error. If you find that you have this ice cream, you can return it to where you bought it for a full refund.
