No offense intended to the national chains, but if you're looking for the best fried chicken in Missouri, you want something unique to the state. That's why it's excellent that a new best fried chicken ranking has chosen a St. Louis original for Missouri.

If you listen to the reviewers on Yelp, you likely know this is a go-to place for fried chicken in the St. Louis area

This is Porter's Fried Chicken on South Big Bend Boulevard in St. Louis just chosen by Cheapism as the best fried chicken in Missouri. They praise Porter's 4-piece box of fried chicken "double-coated in a flour-based breading, with an extra-spicy option". There's also plenty of St. Louis history at Porter's as they've been a staple in the region for three decades.

I don't have anything against the big chains because they have their place among the many Missouri food options, but I'm always happy to help spread the word when a local restaurant gets a national shoutout. I've lost count on how many times my family has adventured in the St. Louis area, but we've somehow never managed to visit Porter's. It seems we are the exception and not the rule. Kudos to them for getting some national attention.
