Surprise: Missouri’s Best Brunch Isn’t in Its Big Cities

I'm a fan of the underdog. That's why I was happy to see a Missouri place that's not named St. Louis or Kansas (no offense intended, metro people) acknowledged as having one of the best brunches in the state.

What is brunch anyway?

There's a mysterious time period that's not quite breakfast, but not really lunch either. It's both which is where "brunch" comes from. Truth be told I'm one of those scary individuals (Editor's Note: tell us something we don't know) that enjoys what most people would consider breakfast food for dinner sometimes, too.

Cheapism decided that each state needed its own best brunch place and their hcoice for Missouri was NOT a restaurant in St. Louis or Kansas City. They say the best brunch place you can visit in Missouri is Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe in Springfield.

I don't adventure in southwest Missouri as much as I did when I was a kid so I haven't eaten at many Springfield places in recent years, but I've heard many of my friends that do mention Gailey's. Several of them consider themselves food connoisseurs so they would know. All I'm sure of is I love seeing Missouri places that aren't in the biggest metros getting a national shout out. Guy Fieri is entertaining, but I've never seen him do a show anyplace other than diners in St. Louis or Kansas City. This brunch recognition for Gailey's is proof that great Missouri food places sometimes exist off of the beaten path and I love sharing the word about that.
